Jesus was thirsty, but not merely for a drink. He is thirsty for all of us. Thirsty for you and me. Jesus is calling us to Him, desiring our souls. As man desires water, Jesus desires us.
Matthew 27:46
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
This saying is taken from Psalms 22, a quote from King David. For some it is taken as an abandonment of the Son by the Father. The question is… can one really be separated from the love of God? Jesus was placed on the cross by His enemies, most of His Disciples and friends had scattered. Could the cry be of one who instead… felt forsaken. Often, we choose to feel as though God has abandoned us, but rest assured… we have His promise from both the Old and New Testaments. …
